Privacy Policy

180 Darts — last updated 3 August 2026

Short version: 180 Darts stores your matches and player profiles locally on your device. You can opt in to iCloud to sync them across your own devices, and you can opt in to share matches with specific friends via Apple's iMessage-based CloudKit Sharing.

We do not collect analytics, we do not track you across apps, and we do not have a backend server that sees your gameplay data. There are no third-party SDKs in the app.

1. Who we are

180 Darts (the "App") is published by an independent developer ("we", "us"). For privacy questions, contact us at 180dartapp@proton.me. The data controller for personal data processed by the App, where applicable, is the publisher of the App on the App Store.

2. Data we collect, how, and why

2.1 Data you create inside the App

The App stores the following information on your device, in Apple's local Core Data store:

This data lives on your device. The App does not transmit it to any server we control.

2.2 iCloud synchronisation (optional)

If you have iCloud enabled on your device, the App uses Apple's NSPersistentCloudKitContainer to synchronise the data above across devices signed in to the same Apple ID. The data is stored in your private iCloud database, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to it.

The App also uses Apple's iCloud key-value store (NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore) to sync a small amount of state across your devices — your local identity ID and whether you have accepted a friend's share invitation. This is held in your iCloud account and governed by Apple's policy; we do not have access to it.

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud → 180 Darts.

2.3 CloudKit sharing with friends (optional)

If you choose to share matches with a specific friend, the App uses Apple's CKShare mechanism. You initiate the share via iMessage or AirDrop; your friend accepts the invite; from that moment on, both devices can see each other's matches that you placed inside the shared zone.

Sharing is opt-in per friend, and ends as soon as you remove that friend with Unfriend in the Players screen, which revokes their access to your share. The share is brokered entirely by Apple's CloudKit; we never see the contents.

2.4 Local notifications

The App may show local notifications on your device (for example, when a friend's match update arrives via iCloud). These notifications are generated on-device, and the App does not send marketing or content-bearing remote push notifications. It does, however, rely on Apple Push Notification service (APNs) for the silent background pushes that Apple's NSPersistentCloudKitContainer uses to keep your iCloud data in sync across devices. These silent pushes are managed by iOS and CloudKit, carry no content we can read, and are not used to message, profile, or track you.

2.5 Purchases

There are none. 180 Darts is free and contains no in-app purchases and no subscription, so the App never processes, receives, or stores any payment, billing, or receipt information.

3. Data we do NOT collect

The App does not use any third-party SDKs that collect personal data.

4. Children's privacy

180 Darts is rated 4+ on the App Store and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App does not require an account, an email address, or any external sign-in, and contains no in-app purchases.

5. Your rights and how to exercise them

Because the data the App stores is in your iCloud account or on your device, you have direct, full control over it:

We respond to verifiable requests within 30 days. Where applicable, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

6. Legal basis for processing (EU/UK users)

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we process the limited data described above on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR:

7. Data retention

Match and player data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. iCloud data is retained until you delete it or close your iCloud account. We do not retain any of this data on our own servers because the App does not have any.

8. International transfers

Because we do not run a backend server, we do not transfer your personal data internationally. Apple iCloud may store your data on Apple's infrastructure in your country or region, governed by Apple's policy.

9. Security

Local data is stored in Apple's Core Data, protected by your device's encryption (iOS data protection class). iCloud data — including matches you share via CloudKit — is encrypted in transit and at rest on Apple's infrastructure; end-to-end encryption applies only if you have Apple's Advanced Data Protection enabled for your iCloud account.

10. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy materially, we will publish a new version with a new "last updated" date. For non-material changes (typo fixes, clearer wording), we will simply update the date.
